The views and course are unparalleled. The cherry blossoms are usually at or near full bloom and the course runs near a lot of the popular monuments. Because of the distance and scenery, this race attracts a lot of people that normally don’t run races.
This was the first year I have taken part in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile run in Washington, DC. Entry can be earned through any of a couple different methods. First is the Lottery, where you just throw your name into the big hat and see if you're drawn on Lottery Day.
I have run this race the past six years. I love the course. There is a lot of course support and the course is very scenic. The past two years transportation has been an issue. I was waiting at the Metro station with other runners and it never opened.
I PRed in this race. It was a beautiful course. It was a difficult run because of the large crowd in a smaller course (lots of 2 lane road) and lack of race edict (walkers starting in mile 2 that should have gotten over to the side or started in a later heat).
I participated in the 10 Miler for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom race. It’s very flat and very fast. I enjoyed all the scenery including some of the monuments, the Kennedy Center, Watergate, and down to Haines Point under the blossoming trees.
