This was my first year running the Hillacious Half. I drove the course about an hour before the race start; oh boy!! Should have kept that as a surprise! Very, very hilly, but some nice "flat" sections to catch your breath and some downhills to make up for time. The scenery was beautiful, and at one point I thought how lucky I was to be able to run in such beautiful countryside. The stretches of dirt road were muddy from the melting snow, but that just added to the fun. Great post-race food (your choice of a hot dog/grilled cheese/hamburger back at the VFW). I would recommend carrying your own water for this course - volunteers were giving out full size water bottles and smaller Gatorade bottles at the water stop which are not the most convenient to carry. Suggestion to the race organizer would to have the bottles as an option, then some in small cups for those that only need a quick sip. I"ll be back again next year!

Top Tips:
Carry your own water, be prepared for HILLS. Remember the reason you are running this race and enjoy the ride!
