Disney races are always fun! The course was the same and the Wine and Dine that is in November. It starts outside of the Magic Kingdom. The first 3-4 miles are on the highway but there are star war characters and special effects along the way. You then run through Animal Kingdom including going past the tree of life and into Pandora that are all light up since it is so early. There's then another stretch of another few miles of highway running before you get to Hollywood Studios, Disney Boardwalk and finally Epcot. The course is mainly flat with a few small hills. There is water and gatorade almost every mile and gu starting around mile 8.
The race starts at 530am and to get a shuttle you have to be staying at a Disney Resort or the Hilton Bonnet Creek Resort. We stayed at the Hilton Bonnet and had to get up at 2am to be on the bus by 245am. The bus then brought us to Epcot and we had to take another bus to the start. If you stay at a Disney resort you only have to take 1 bus but I believe the last one is still around 345am.
There are Star Wars Characters to take pictures with before, during and after the race. Lots of people dress up in cool costumes. You have the option to do a few different challenges including a virtual one where if you sign up early enough and log 13 miles during your training, you get an extra Star Wars medal. You can also run the 10k the day before and get another medal. All the medals were awesome.
