Pistol 100 offers many different distance: 100M, 100k, 50M, 50k, 50k relay, 10M and 1M. They have staggered starts with the 50M beginning at 8:00pm. The 10M is Sunday morning. This is to keep the trails from being too congested and it works like a charm! The 50k begins first then the 100M and 100K begin together. I was in the second start seeing as I was running the 100k. The 100M and 100k are allowed paces for ALL loops. This was wonderful!!! Things get sticky for me around 50k so the company/pacers allowed early was great! The entire route (a 10+mile loop) is either asphalt or concrete. The concrete isn't much. There's not a ton of elevation so you don't die on hills. The aid stations were great and well stocked. Porta potties were right where you needed them AND the S/F was at the local high school. We were allowed to use the school the entire race so crew and pacers could stay inside warm until needed plus there was internet for them to play on their phones, etc along with flush toilets (a luxury at an ultra). The race is incredibly well organized. I have absolutely no complaints at all...well, except that maybe I could have run faster? It was mostly open parking in the school parking lots EXCEPT for the runners attempting the 100M and 100k. We were given a special parking pass and were reserved parking as close to the S/F as possible. I was very thankful for that after running as long as I did.
