I completed the Richmond half marathon. There were also options of a full marathon and 8k on the same day. All races started in different location in downtown Richmond so it was not overcrowded and corrals were not packed in. I was able to get to the start with 15 minutes to the start and was fine. The race was on all roads and went through downtown Richmond and Joseph Bryan Park. There were some rolling hills throughout. There were crowds here and there but I would guess the bigger crowds were on the marathon course. It did not overlap with the marathon or 8K course until the last few miles and all races had the same finish line. The finish was a pretty steep downhill. You received a finisher medal, fleece blanket and hat which were all nice! You get some free food and 1 free beer. There was a post race party at the finish line, but it was cold se we didn't stay too long.

Top Tips:
If you can stay near the start, it is very convenient to go to/from the start and finish lines
