We drove down from St. Louis, MO - this was my wife's first race, I've been doing tri for years. Immediately we were greeted by the RD at packet pickup, extremely friendly, recommending places to go and tour, where to eat. The hospitality of the crew who puts the race on is excellent. The race itself is tough for a sprint, the only thing that isn't hilly is the swim. All intersections were guarded with police at the major intersections. Once you're on the road, it's open road. The quality of road for about half the bike is so so, you have a pave seam every 20 feet. Nothing too bad, but enough to know it's there and feel the BUMP BUMP on the bars. The run is a beast, 2 big hills going out, 2 big hills coming back. Medals to all finishers, and I got a prison made keychain for winning my AG which is pretty neat. Overall, recommended. Cheap race, tough race, fun times. And 1600 HD HQ FREE race pictures? That's an incredible perk. Thank you Don, and YMCA!

Top Tips:
Stay alert on the main roads, they are not closed, I had somebody attempt to "pass" me (a van) by driving down the middle section of the road on the final hill into transition, which dead-ended him into cones. He choose to stop instead of cutting me off, thank goodness. And the police officer at that turn was not happy with the guy as I made the final turn at the bottom of the hill. Be aware, and be safe!
