I ran this endurance challenge for the first time this year after having to DNS last year due to a knee injury. I'm glad I came back and tried again, as this was a well-run event with friendly volunteers and a sneaky challenging course.
I absolutely LOVE this event and White Oak Running Co! The Race Directors work hard to make sure that the food is perfect (it's what hooked me in the first place!), the course is well-marked, and that the atmosphere is friendly!
I am very new to the Ultra and Trail Running scene and this event was fantastic. The timed nature of the event made it strategically interesting. Is it better to push and finish your last lap with nothing left in the tank, or pace yourself and try to squeeze in one more?
This was my 1st year running Miocene. I opted for 6 hour. My own performance aside ;) it was a great event. The RD and his team are top notch. Super friendly and supportive. They checked-in with me after every loop making sure I was doing well and pointed me to where all of the aid was.
This was my first time doing a race of the running/walking variety so I was a little bit nervous. The race organizers were super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The park was easy to get to and parking was plentiful, with easy navigation from the park's staff.
I participated in the 9 hour race. I was using this race as a prep for a walking competition I am participating in the end of June in Sweden. As such, I was not dressed as a "runner" and was carrying gear (a backpack since the June event is self-supporting) no one else was carrying.
