Great race for a first time Tri!! The women were super nice and there was great comradery among participants. The distances seemed off a bit. Were the swim and run shorter than advertised? Hotel situation was a bit difficult. We stayed 7 miles away due to lack of availability.
The Jersey Girl Tri is one of the best races for both experienced and new triathletes. The best part of the race is the support from Brian Shea and all the training team. There is such much love and support from the participants, as well.
Whether you're new to the sport or this is your 50th tri, if you want a great sprint tri, this is it. The event is well organized and the crowd, volunteers and crew are all amazingly helpful and friendly.
I have volunteered as a swim angel at Jersey Girl after I did IM Lake Placid in 2012 because I wanted to pay it forward. This year my Mom decided to do her first triathlon at age 68. We did Jersey Girl together on 8/6/2017. My mother loved the race so much that she got a Jersey Girl tattoo!!!
I did Jersey Girl Triathlon for 8 years in a row. Always a very supportive event. You have free training program, coach, and practice groups for run and open water swims. Great beginners race for woman. Swim angels guide you through the swim if needed.
I ran the run only portion in 2016 and did the full tri this year. Love it! Very friendly for first time multi-sporters - they provide training tips, they host group swims and runs, there are swim angels provided the day of for people like me who were terrified of the swim.
Jersey Girl is incredibly well organized, relaxed and friendly, which makes it the perfect first tri for any woman looking to race. From serious competitors, to bucket-listers, mother-daughter teams, all ages, sizes, and abilities come together for a beautiful race.
