Very tough and rewarding course. Support, organization, and apres race were excellent. I especially liked (and needed) small Gatorade bottles at around half way.
This race is filled with beauty and challenges. While completing, you can’t help but think of those being honored throughout - at the start/finish line, at each mile, and around your neck (instead of a medal you can customize a dog tag). It’s a hometown race that welcomes all!
Such a great event with friendly people and all the proceeds go to vets!
This was my first year running the Hillacious Half. I drove the course about an hour before the race start; oh boy!! Should have kept that as a surprise! Very, very hilly, but some nice "flat" sections to catch your breath and some downhills to make up for time.
I was inspired by the cause of running in support of veterans and there was a sense of comradery not felt in other races because of the small field of runners(101). There were plenty hydration stops along the way and a warm sandwich and beer waiting after the finish.
Tough half marathon. Many hills but so worth the effort to honor all veterans. Meant so much to me to see the names go by mile by mile. Gave me strength to get through race.
I’ve run this race 2/3 years it has been running and both years were wonderful! The course is challenging but not impossible and is BEAUTIFUL! It is very organized and they treat runners very well. I also love that the proceeds go toward Veterans and active military.
Great organization, awesome cause, tough course. This one is not to be missed.
