"Participated in half-marathon. "

2

Course was OK. Been over that course before. Weather foggy - added to enjoyment. Problem was at finish - no beer at finish. Man said beer was for marathoners and that the 5Kers had drank most of it. Well, what about us half-marathoners. My time was 3:01.

"Galveston marathon "

There was plenty of parking, but bathrooms were an issue. Not nearly enough!! No toilet paper in some bathrooms throughout the course. Single bathroom per station is not a good thing either. No hand sanitizers by any of the bathrooms. The water from a hose was nasty.

"Great race as usual with one minor suggestion"

To be transparent I run this race every year. It's fast flat and very well supported. One thing that seemed different this year was the hazard the wheelchair race presented. Along the seawall the course was narrow and the wheelchair racers didn't have much room to navigate.

"Great small-race event, FOG! "

Flat and fast course, great small race spirit! Well organized, and good social media/email regular updates which I always appreciate (especially on weather, parking situations).

"Hard to tell with the fog . . . but could use more sense of community"

The race course would have been beautiful without the fog. The course runs along the Gulf of Mexico. We passed pelicans and egrets. There were few fans to cheer on racers, but the aid stations were well stocked with liquid, gels and food. The volunteers were supportive and kind.

"Great flat course, great post-race food. Small-town friendly feel. Strange enveloping fog. "

The half-marathon was well-organized and went through beachy areas. A very flat course with many pacers. The thick fog was such that I could hear the finish line and activities well before I could see it. I knew I was running by beaches and water, but couldn't really see the water.

"Great Volunteers"

I completed the full marathon and got 1st place in my age group, so that made me happy. The race event has a great parking area and fantastic volunteers. The weather was uncooperative with such dense fog that visibility was practically nil.

"Low key, fast course"

Ran the half. Definitely a smaller race than I expected, but very well run and the volunteers were great! Spectators were almost totally absent, but it made the run that much more peaceful. Not so much “an event” during the run - more of a retreat.

"Galveston Half"

First time doing this particular race. I ran in the half. I was surprised how small the race was compared to many others I've done. The course was good. Nothing anyone could do about the weather, but it did personally make for a very difficult run.
