2018 was my first year running the Iron Mountain 30 Mile Trail Run. I had heard about it last year from a running friend. The course was beautiful and it was technical in spots but also runnable in spots too. The aid stations were amazing.
I ran the IM50 for the second year in a row. It is the classic old school ultra - more than adequate aid stations, perfectly marked course, friendly runners and volunteers, post-race bbq and low frills. All for $25!!
I ran the 16 mile race. All events started on time. Very well organized. It was a tough course. Lots of climbing. The finisher awards consisted of your choice of cookies, bread, or jelly from a local bakery. It was hard to choose just one. I got a loaf of sourdough bread which was fabulous.
Congratulations to the race director. This was another well organized race and I enjoyed every bit of the race. The course was well mared and the aid station food and after race food was lovely. Thank you volunteers.
