Welcome to Maryland Swim for Life!
Swim for Life is an open water swim competition and fundraising event to benefit Washington, DC-area HIV/AIDS non-profit organizations, as well as local watershed organizations that advocate for clean, local waters.
Sanctioned each year by United States Masters Swimming, Swim for Life begins and ends at Rolph's Wharf on the Chester River, which is one of the Chesapeake Bay's most beautiful tributaries. Athletes have the choice of swimming 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 miles. We will again be offering the hugely popular 2.4 Mile Triathlon Challenge swim!!
I completed the 3-mile swim in 2017. It was a well organized but relaxed event. The focus of the event is fundraising/charity but it is timed and there are awards given to the first place in each age group. You can do the swim to compete or just to participate.
I love this race! It was much more challenging this year with strong currents and swimming against a stronger tide. I love the vibe of this race because it's not about winning but supporting important charities. And there is always a great picnic after.
