Welcome to Maryland Swim for Life!
Swim for Life is an open water swim competition and fundraising event to benefit Washington, DC-area HIV/AIDS non-profit organizations, as well as local watershed organizations that advocate for clean, local waters.
Sanctioned each year by United States Masters Swimming, Swim for Life begins and ends at Rolph's Wharf on the Chester River, which is one of the Chesapeake Bay's most beautiful tributaries. Athletes have the choice of swimming 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 miles. We will again be offering the hugely popular 2.4 Mile Triathlon Challenge swim!!
Words can't describe how much I love this race and the people who run ('swim'?) it. The location is gorgeous, the pre and post race food and beverages are amazing (BEST post-race spread anywhere), the support in and out of the water is awesome.
This event was one of the best I ever participated in. I have done lots of swim meets and open water and this one was the most organize. I love that we were inform about time change and got lots of email about the course. The safety meeting before was very nice.
This is a great, low key event with beautiful views with every stroke. The organizers are wonderful, fun and friendly but very organized and safety-concerned as well. Great food afterwards supplied by the event's beneficiaries (this is a charity event).
If you only swim one open water swim this year, this should be it! For ultra runners, this is to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Swim what Stone Mill is to JFK 50: 1/3 the price, 3 times the food, and 30 times the fun and support! Of course it's even better knowing that it goes to good cause.
This is one of my favorite endurance events. It benefits a great cause and the organizers and volunteers are very friendly. There are multiple distances to swim - 1, 2, 2.4, 3 4, and 5 mile options are available. The venue is lovely and the river is friendly but challenging.
